Have you ever had the chance to create something for another? Maybe a letter, an artwork, maybe even a song? Then you know that tiny happiness after seeing how grateful they are especially when they show their smile. I had an experience similar to that. I was recently invited by a school to share my knowledge on how to record videos. At the start when I was first invited, I was taken aback but so many ideas ran through my head that I was excited to take on the challenge!
It wasn’t as easy as I thought, once I said yes. I had to educate 5 -18 years old students which surprised me! I honestly felt like I was standing in a field ready to sow, but each area of soil was different, so I had to consider how I was going to teach without making it too complicated or too simple. Although, I took up the challenge and did my best to find the middle ground.
During the process of creating the script and jotting down ideas, I really enjoyed being creative with it. I decided to create a tutorial video that was engaging. The day of filming the video came; it took 2 hours to finish, accompanied by many reshoots etc. It wasn’t easy as I felt I was rushing with time. Being the director and actor I was very keen on getting things right. It was difficult, but I kept in mind who I was doing this for, so that pushed me forward!
Afterwards, I moved onto the editing process. It was honestly fun and entertaining as I laughed and cringed at myself. The whole ordeal took me 2-5 hours to edit. It was honestly exhausting, but I was built up with excitement to see the students' reactions!
On the day of the presentation, I was nervous. To my surprise, I couldn’t stop grinning as I watched the students smile as they reacted on Zoom. After the whole presentation I was honestly so thrilled to hear their feedbacks and it made me feel all those days of working on it we're worth it! There might have been a few bumps during the planning, while I was presenting and many more but, the entirety of doing it, to share knowledge and to hopefully spark their love for what I love, made it all the more better!
The whole experience made me realize when you create for others, they become motivators! As well as in the process of whatever you are doing, think back to your goal because they help you remember your purpose and can push you forward!
