My teacher for the last 3 months has been Chris Do, an Emmy award-winning designer, director, CEO and Chief Strategist of Blind and the founder of The Futur.
I’ve been watching his videos and studying his philosophy on social media marketing, specifically in Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. This is what I learned, that simply, Social Media is all about community.
Social media is a place to socialize; where sharing thoughts, ideas, knowledge and exchanging conversations happen over the internet; hence the term social media. I also learned that when using Social Media for marketing, selling directly to your customers isn’t what people look for and doing this could actually backfire on you.
One of the things I learned from Chris Do that I wanted to share with you is that we should refer to our market not as Customers but as an Audience. This thinking will open up so many doors and will help you when it comes to creating your content. What people want is knowledge; they want to see your journey and discoveries.
So documenting your process intrigues people and lets them get to know you and how you see the world. This in turn begins the relationship that you will have with your audience. If you post consistently on a specific subject matter this helps your audience have a clearer picture of who you are and your brand and what sort of feeling they get from following you.
Till then, stay creative!
