How did I come up with the curriculum you ask? Well, it was much simpler than you think. As I already had an idea of where I wanted to work in the future, which was working in the film or music industry. I did my best to research the biggest companies that I planned to apply in and I simply took note of the credentials that were needed in order to apply. Doing that clarified my focus of study. One other thing I did was direct message those professionals in my field who I look up to!

This part of the process was where I was in disbelief to actually message them. My Dad gave me the idea. I knew for a fact that it would be such a slim chance for them to actually respond to my message at all, but once I looked at it, he was right! There was nothing wrong with sending a message. If they replied great! If not then at least you tried. So I came up with a message that simply presented my interest in their work and questions like, how did they get to where they are? What schools or programs did they take up? How to better hone your skills, etc. I sent it and waited.

To my surprise, there were responses! The replies I got came from a variety of people. An LA Video Editor of Justin Bieber, a Music Video Director of Ariana Grande, a Creative Director of a Philippine Branding Company, a Filipina artist and more! These simple responses gave me the idea on where to begin! It was also through this that I was able to exchange contact with them and were given opportunities to work and learn from them!

I’ve come to learn that reaching your goals starts off by taking simple steps. You don’t have to look at the goal and think it’s too big to reach. The crazy yet mundane idea of just chatting away with someone you admire is already taking you where you dream to go. So sit down and chat with people, who love what you love!
