THE LIFESTYLE OF A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT

VIRTUAL CAREER PART 06

Chapter six of Virtual Careers by Jomar Hilario gives us more than a glimpse of what life is like, taking on a virtual career. Jomar Hilario shares in detail how his daily routine was when he made the decision to embark on the virtual career journey. He shows a comparison of schedules he used to have as an office worker, to how different it was when he began to get clients from abroad. From his regular schedule of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. office hours to a whole new schedule.

Reading this chapter, Mr. Hilario also shares two real life stories from people who have learned from him, and have shifted to a virtual career. After reading both their testimonies, I learned two things. One, when you take on a virtual career one big change is that you become the boss. You are your own boss, so setting up a schedule and organizing your time becomes top priority. Reading from one testimony, she shares how this shift has allowed her to grow in her relationship with her loved ones. The second thing I am learning is how you can fit this career to suit your lifestyle. If you are a mother of 3 who needs to cook, run errands and more, taking on any virtual career is the perfect job since you begin to create your own work time slot. The only thing to consider when taking on a virtual career is to organize your schedule well, and if you do, everything fits into place.

Something I’ve come to learn from this chapter is how much work and time goes into regular office jobs. It never occurred to me the difficulty that regular employees face, especially when they have family members to take care of. It was only until I saw the difference of schedules that Mr. Hilario shared that enlightened me. I’m grateful to Mr. Hilario for sharing that there is more to life than just getting a regular office job, but you can earn more online, yet continue to grow those special bonds with the ones you love.
