THE PRICE TAG YOU PUT ON YOURSELF DECIDES YOUR WORTH.

VIRTUAL CAREER PART 5

Chapter five of Virtual Careers, Jomar Hilario guides the reader on where to get started on creating your own rate for your services. He shares how he started rating his work, while taking into account whatever his rent, electricity bill is and more. Reading this chapter gave me insights on how to rate my projects, but what struck me most was the quote at the beginning of the chapter. “The price tag you put on yourself, decides your worth. Underestimating yourself will cost you dearly” by Approve Dubery.

This quote made me think about how important it is when setting your rate, because when putting a price on your service, it lets your client have an idea of how high end the product or the result of your service will be. Mr. Hilario points out that whatever you set your rates to, you must put in that much effort that the rate you gave deserves. If you give a high rate but your product doesn’t give off that high end standard for its price than that’s not fair to the client.

I really like this reminder because as a creative, I must show that my work reflects the rate I gave to my client. This not only proves to my client why they should keep using my services, but it also shows how trust worthy I am, and how upscale my product or service is. I also loved that this quote points out that as creatives, we shouldn’t underestimate our work and set it at a lower price than what it should be given. Overall, this chapter was very informative and helped me rethink how to properly rate my services.
