The Process of Planning

Have you ever sat through a meeting session and you find yourself zoning out? I’ve experienced this a lot in the past, during the planning stages. For me, I’ve always enjoyed the “Production” portion. Getting straight into shooting, or running straight once the whistle starts. Although, I’ve learned there’s a sense of accomplishment in the process of planning.
An example would be, when I created a storyboard for CleanX. I wanted to recreate the old Ad I made for them. Since it’s a remake, this is where I began to brainstorm and ask myself, “How do I present this differently than the last?”. I took about 2 hours, it felt way longer than that, but after drafting a storyboard, I realized it made Post Production much simpler.
In the end, I found that the process of planning is important, because it guides you along while you create. Just like when you build a house, once you have your blueprint as a guide, it helps you erect the structure. If you don’t have a plan or a guide, the whole project could take longer or worse, the whole thing could fall apart!
In life, the process of planning could be to slow down, and think about all that you are doing and where you want to go. Once you start on that track, in the end, you feel a sense of accomplishment, looking at your project from when it started, just as a plan, to where it is now. I’ve started to do this recently but, I’ll share about that on another day! ;)
Til then stay creative!
